Value Isn’t Guarantees of Big Blog Income
Unless you’re completely new to the blogging scene, you’ve probably heard two things. One thing you’ll have heard is that content is king. The other is that you must offer your visitors real value if you want them to keep visiting your blog. But knowing this and acting on it isn’t enough. A less talked about secret of earning big blog income is that great content and providing value will only get you so far. That may sound like a contradiction, but don’t worry. It really isn’t. Please let me explain.
When top blogs make money, they surely have great content that provides value to their readers, but they have several more characteristics. By far the most important is that people read them. They have lots of visitors (traffic). In other words, thousands of people a day read their blogs.
Great content is crucial. Providing real value is crucial. But if no one finds your blog, you’re not going to make money. There are tens of millions of blogs out there. If you’re writing about a popular topic (and you should be), you’ll have competition. You’ll probably find tens, if not hundreds of blogs covering the same topic. Getting enough visitors to your blog is challenging but doable.
Once you have lots of loyal readers, you’re getting close, but still not out of the woods. Getting your blog to generate money (known as monetizing your blog) is the next big challenge. Just because you have visitors it doesn’t mean you’re going to make money. Finding one or more ways to earn money from your blog visitors is crucial if you want significant blogging income.
So as you can see, delivering value to your readers isn’t nearly enough. Two more things are necessary. One is getting visitors, lots of visitors to your blog. The other is getting them to spend money. You’ll need to master both of these if you really want to profit from your blogging.
